Our Mission

Our mission is to provide support and guidance in reptile and amphibian care — from husbandry and nutrition to general wellness. Through education and hands-on training, we empower the community to give these unique animals the best lives possible. We are not here to judge or criticize, but to stand beside keepers and enthusiasts in caring for the scaly kind.

Hi!

My name is Katarina

I have been working with animals since I was a little kid. I grew up on a small farm working with horses, sheep, and goats. I volunteered with a wildlife foundation as a kid and fell in love with working with animals. There were a lot of native reptile and amphibian species we found on the farm.

My favorite reptile encounter as a kid was when we found an injured rubber boa. My parents had put it in a tank while we looked for someone who could help it. When I checked on the snake later, it looked a lot smaller. My parents and I were very confused until we saw more little small snakes in the tank. We discovered the snake had been pregnant and rubber boas are one of the few reptile species who give live birth instead of laying eggs. We found someone to care for the snake and her babies so she could get the medical care she needed. This event helped me realize how much I loved animals, but especially reptiles.

As an adult, I started working in veterinary medicine. I am currently working towards my veterinary technician certification degree. My hopes are to use the knowledge I learn to help educate the public on proper husbandry, nutrition, and general care. I want to be an advocate for the reptile and amphibian species. We offer the reptiles under our care a second chance that they might not have had otherwise. Additionally, offer support to individuals who either need assistance finding their pet a home or just need advice on how to better care for their reptile.
